GeneLooper™ 2.0: Single Sequence Utilities - Restriction Analysis

Virtual Gel Electrophoresis and Vector Map Drawing

Previous

To test the digestion of selected enzymes, one can just click on the Virtual Gel button, and a computer-generated gel picture will appear. In the picture, the locations of the DNA bands resulting from the digestion are drawn along the side of a DNA marker (1 kb ladder, courtesy of Invitrogen). This function will help researchers test the digestion by the selected restriction enzymes before doing a real experiment.

To draw a vector map with selected enzymes, one can click on the Show Circle Map button, and an editable map draw interface will appear. With it, one can change the size of the vector, move existing labels and add new labels. The drawing can be copied and pasted to other drawing tools.
